Upper Anstey Lane & Old Odiham Road

UALOOR residents' group was set up to keep residents informed about developments that might affect this location, just north of the town. Members have argued that development should be planned and managed and they are encouraged to respond to public consultations and to make representations to local councillors.

Although UALOOR group has only been running since the housing development near Cadnam Farm was going through the planning process, we have enjoyed a few successes. The main item, due to concerns around safety, was to permanently close Upper Anstey Lane to vehicular through traffic. We continued to engage with the liaison group, made up of developers, council and local residents, to raise any further issues, which has largely worked well.

Other successes include having various sites cleared of ‘flytipping’, barriers erected to prevent horse riders using the footpath behind the houses on Old Odiham Road, and a salt/grit box is now located at top of Upper Anstey Lane. One sunny evening this summer, approx 70 residents of Upper Anstey Lane & Old Odiham Road met at the Alton Golf Club for a social night and all enjoyed ‘getting to know the neighbours’ over a bite to eat and a few drinks - a brilliant night it was too.

Last, but not least, we now have faster broadband available which is hugely welcomed by many, and the first applicants are due to be connected early August. We aim to connect residents to items of interest and relevance as to what is going on, in and around Alton. We don't have regular meetings, but we have share information via email and we have a website
