Great British Spring Clean 2019

Great British Spring Clean 2019
Thursday 28th February, 2019

The Great British Spring clean campaign, which runs from March 22nd to April 23rd, will see up to half a million people taking action to clean up streets, parks and beaches across the country.

The campaign brings together individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils to make a difference to the environment on our doorstep and in 2018 around 370,000 #LitterHeroes collected more than 630,000 bags of rubbish.

With the support of the Alton and District Residents Association, Alton Town Council has a stock of Spring Clean Starter Packs including litter pickers, bin bags and hi-vis vests to give to Local Residents Associations to help them organise their own Spring Clean during the period of the campaign. The Alton Society will continue to coordinate the town pickup, meeting at the old Post Office at 10am Saturday 30th March.

Becci May – Chair, Alton and District Residents Associations said:

"Through our affiliation of the local residents associations and groups in Alton, we'll be encouraging Altonians to get involved, lend a hand and at the same time, get to know a few more neighbours. Alton is a welcoming and attractive market town, and helping with this Great British Spring Clean is a simple way to show we care."

To get involved please contact your local residents association whose details can be found on this site. Alternatively, if you are located in an area not served by a residents association, you can organise your own Spring Clean and apply to the Town Hall directly for your starter pack. Once ATC know the dates of everyone’s litter picks we will promote them all their usual media outlets.
